The previous owner had had a board with a free edge as a shelf in the front hall. The new piece utilizes a similar board with a cabinet beneath. The LH edge of the board is dovetailed to the side. The RH edge extends a foot beyond the cabinet. This part of the board has a large check that has been stabilized with an ebony butterfly key.
